How about that? This page is all about this book from MY point of view!  Yee- HAW!

It all started off okay. Billie let me have my wish for my bowed legs. Then somethin' happened that made her realize that sometimes things turn out better when we DON'T get our wishes.

Anyway, I'm glad everythin' has turned out just like it has. Otherwise, how could I be exactly the person I am now? I mean, If I weren't MYSELF, I wouldn't be the one talkin' to YOU, would I?

Anyway, I was goin' to tell you a bit of mah own story, wasn't I?

The first time anybody knew anything about me was when Billie told Rusty and Trent about me when they were just pups.

Trent & Lon Moore

Billie's two young sons Trent (left) and Rusty (on the far right in the blue shirt) grew up in west Texas.

Everyone enjoyed visitin' Houston and seein' grandparents, cousins, and other kinfolks. In Houston, Rusty and Trent got to see a horse that didn't eat hay. (Of course, their cousin Kennie [in the middle on the right], taught them that the "horse" was really called a "tricycle," not a horse at all). The visit to Houston, though educational, took many hours on the road. It was on one of these long trips that Billie introduced Rusty and Trent to me, ... Casey, the knock-kneed cowboy.

Now, I would NEVER accuse Billie of being a quitter. No sir-ee! A procrastinator, yes! This picture to the left shows watercolor illustrations she did of me probably before 1980. YOU do the math: My ... er, well,... I mean, her book, The Knock-Kneed Cowboy: A Tale of Being "Just Right" ... Just As We Are, has a 2009 copyright. It's safe to say that Billie doesn't always get in a big hurry completin' stuff.

On the other hand, though, once she found a REAL reason to put her book into print, she did it, you might say, "from the ground up." It was important for her to say what she wanted to say the way it needed to be said. (Cain't ya just imagine somebody from a big city correctin' the way I talk? Heck, I wouldn't get t'say a thang if Billie hadn't been so stubborn to get the REAL story out fer kids t'read).

Once the book was in print, Billie talked country recording artist Trent Willmon (Yeah, kiddos DO change a bit in 30 years, don't they?) into using his great country voice to record an audio version of The Knock-Kneed Cowboy onto 3 CDs so youngsters traveling long distances didn't have to force their mamas to make up stories for them the way Rusty and Trent used to do.

If you don't know Trent, you can take a listen to some of his music at http://www.TrentWillmon.com.  Somewhere else on this site (Now, where DID I put that? The home page mebbe?) is a clip from Trent's recording.

Check back at the CASEY'S STORE page: You can get "my" COMBO set at a bargain. You can even get the softback book autographed by Billie, and the audio book autographed by Trent! What a deal, huh? (They can offer it at such a good price because - unfortunately - I didn't agree to sign ANYTHING!)

Take it from me, though, both Trent and Billie did a GREAT job! I promise y'all will LOVE the tale.

Happy Trails and Happy TALES!

Casey
