TODAY'S EDUCATIONAL SCENE: The emotional climate of both public and private classrooms  reveals that both educators and youngsters need SO much more than the teach-to-the-test, "no-child-left-behind" mindset that rules today's curriculum.

Too frequently, kids learn WHAT to think, but not HOW to think for themselves. Their peers "MAKE them angry," "MAKE them sad," "MAKE them feel they are worthless" - because youngsters have never been taught that THEY THEMSELVES have control over whether they "buy into" others' opinions.

A PROPOSED REMEDY:  Most educators are caring people, but teachers have little time to spend on what might be considered "soft" skills - such as feelings of SELF-ACCEPTANCE, RESPECT, and VALUING SELF AND OTHERS.  

Local citizens - alarmed by the increase in BULLYCIDE - are stepping-up to include EMOTIONAL EDUCATION in their community.


Teachers can't simply stop 'teaching to the test' to reduce BULLYING!


NEEDED: quality materials that teach "testable" skills (such as higher-order thinking skills involved with reading ... with the mind fully engaged), along with non-testable skills that teach youngsters peace with themselves and with others.
